The hymn “How Firm a Foundation” was first published in 1787. It conveys God’s willingness to let us “test” Him or prove Him. He wants us to know how much He loves us and He recognizes that we need opportunities to learn of His love. This is why God give us deep waters to pass through and fiery trials to face. He wants us to prove Him and prove to ourselves that He is true to His promises
